About Us

Why choose to buy your wine from The Secret Cellar?

  • We offer top quality hand crafted wines from premium and boutique producers around the world, many of whom we know.
  • Each wine has been tasted and quality checked by Mike and the team.  Only the very best get on our list - wines that we enjoy and that we think are great value.
  • We offer interesting and unusual wines that you won't find in your local high street or supermarket.
  • Our wines are always fairly priced, as we cut out the middle man.  Our pricing is also very transparent - no marking wines up hugely to then offer big discounts.
  • We offer unrivalled levels of service to you, our customers.
  • You can order from a single bottle upwards – you don"t need to buy a whole case.
  • We offer free local delivery and we also deliver next working day nationally for orders placed before 2.30pm Monday to Friday.
  • The wines will be delivered safely and securely by our trusted courier.
  • We are an independent fine wine merchant, passionate about our business.
  • We are committed to the highest levels of quality throughout our organisation and have been recognised for this with multiple industry awards (see below).

Secret Cellar ShopThe Tunbridge Wells shop and cellars – Located close to the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells, our shop is based in a Grade II listed building which we have recently refurbished. All our fine wines are kept in proper cellar conditions on site with due consideration given to temperature and humidity. In the shop , we aim to offer a haven where people can take some time out from their busy schedules to relax and enjoy. We have a number of wine tasting events on through the year and you will always find a bottle of something open in-store. It may be a new range, one of the old favourites, a newly promoted number, or something you just haven't considered buying before! So come in, you just might like it!!

WineOneHundred by The Secret Cellar
Opened in September 2009, our second store is based in Oxted, Surrey.  As the name implies, the concept here is to offer customers the one hundred best tasting wines available today as sourced by Mike and Mark, as well as one hundred fine wines.  The list will be ever changing as we find parcels of wine that are drinking brilliantly, and there's also a big emphasis on trying before you buy with our two WineSaverPro machines, meaning there's always 8 wines on tasting.  And with the same emphasis on quality and service, we're bringing our independent expertise back to the high street.

The Secret Cellar (Wadhurst)
Opened in September 2010, our Wadhurst store sits in the grounds of Wadhurst Castle in East Sussex.  As well as our retail shop, the unit houses our wine gift business, The Wooden Wine Box Company, and the warehousing of the wines we import directly.  With a huge range of wine, champagne and local beers plus masses of free parking, this really is the place for customers to fill their boots (quite literally).

Secret Cellar ShopThe wines – Enjoying fine wines from dedicated winemakers and selling them at fair prices are what we are all about and we wish to communicate our passion and share these gems available with you. Our eclectic wine list brims with beauties and continues to grow as we source more and more exciting new wines and regions. The Secret Cellar especially endorses the smaller, boutique wineries and specifically winemakers who are fervent about what they do.

We stock an extensive and ever-changing list, but the recurrant theme in all of our wines is their quality and expression of where the wine comes from. We taste hundreds of wines (actually quite hard work!) and only put the best at each price level on our list. We do not offer the mass market wines that you buy at the supermarkets, but focus instead on premium wineries and boutique growers in all regions of the world from South Africa to Southern France; from Chile to Cafayate in Argentina.

Secret Cellar WebsiteThe website – Our secure website attempts to reflect the philosophy of the shop in that you can have a look around in your own time, be informed and entertained, and then you might want to buy something. Unlike many other online sites, we don’t have a minimum order, so you can order just 1 bottle if you wish. And our delivery service is not a week or 3-5 days, but NEXT WORKING DAY if you place your order before 2.30 pm (you can also specify days for delivery). £8.50 is the delivery charge per address, whether it is for 1 bottle or 12 dozen. We can put a message with your order if you wish to send a gift, and when we say the website is secure it means just that – you can order safely online without hesitation. And finally, if you need to ask any question, we are just a phone call or email away and always pleased to help.

The service – Our business is customer driven – without you we wouldn’t exist, so we make sure that we look after each and every client. Whether you shop with us in person or online, we will always have your best interests at heart, and we will always attempt to get things right first time. We are committed to providing value for money across the spectrum of premium wines and to delivering a personalised service customised to the need of the individual. You can receive the same high level of service using the web as with our 'traditional’ Home Delivery Service

Join our mailing list to receive first our news about tasting events, latest offers and mixed case deals, as well as recommendations for everyday drinking.  Buy your wines on-line, by mail or by telephone (for telephone orders, please call Monday-Friday 9am – 6pm, Saturday 9.30am – 5pm).

The awards - it's always nice to be recognised by the industry and we're lucky enough to have picked up the following awards over the years.  However, we're never ones to rest on our laurels and will continue to develop and improve the business.
