A very special case of wine, ideal as a business or personal gift, or equally pleasing if you want to be self indulgant. Each of the wines chosen has been selected to represent the very best of each region and, whilst enjoyable now, these classic wines do have the ability to age very gracefully. These wines are only available in small quantities and are very highly sought after. The final two reds are from the New World. Felton Road Pinot Noir is iconic as they come. A classic example of how great Central Otago Pinot Noir's can be. Savoury, tasty, ultra smooth & rich. Sublime. Riglos Gran Corte is a Malbec/Cabernet blend, quite simply this will be one of Argentina's greatest red wines in the next 10 years. Lovely aromas of cassis, wild blackcurrants, mint, chocolate and violets. A truly world class wine. Please note that during busy times we occasionally run low on stock of some wines, in this instance we may replace wines with similar favourites of equal or greater value so you can be assured of a great case.
The Meursault 1er Cru from Jean Claude Boisset is jaw droppingly good. Very elegant citrus and tropical fruit, a touch of oak (1 and 2 year old French barrels), and a firm backbone of acidity. Whilst this will age, I do prefer this particular wine younger before it puts on too much weight. Pierro Chardonnay is an iconic wine from Margaret River, quite simply one of the finest New World Chardonnay money can buy.
The reds begin with Chateau Batailley, a 5th growth from the stunning 2000 vintage. Based in Pauillac, deliciously seductive with dark silky fruit and fine grained tannins, it's top quality claret. Coming out of Southern Rhone is a stunning Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Ripe, serious aromas of currants, chocolates, liquorice and Provençal herbs. A cult wine.
