Mother's Milk is First Drop's entry level Shiraz. Whilst their wines aren't cheap, good things never are and, in our view, the wines over deliver at every level. Matt Gant and John Retsas set out to enjoy themselves and to make superb wine (or "kick arse booze") with great flavour and texture. They are certainly a winery to watch and we're delighted to be one of the first UK merchants to be working with them.
A very elegant nose of black fruit and spice leads into a deep fruited palate of spicy damson and blackberry fruit. The wine has wonderful texture on the palate and develops flavours of liqourice, clove and a meaty edge with time. It's got great balance, fine tannins and good acidity, and holds its alcohol well. A great length of flavour, this is really very good indeed.
