Another new arrival, this time from the tiny village of Saint Gervais in the Cotes du Rhone Villages appellation, the Reserve du Crouzau is a fantastic Syrah Grenache blend. A beautiful nose of dark berries and red cherries with pepper, sweet spice and soft oak invites you into the palate which is velvety and smooth with real depth of flavour. There's notes of blackberry, cherry and damson as well as pepper, nutmeg and smoked meat. The tannins are ripe, the acidity is good and everything is in balance with good length on the finish. It shows 15% abv but this comes as a real surprise for a wine so soft and silky. Top stuff.
