The rise and rise of Argentine wine continues and Trapiche are at the forefront of this. Having loved their Broquel Bonarda we were intrigued to see what magic they could weave with the sometimes tricky Cabernet Franc - the favoured red of France's Loire Valley but too often the grape behind limp, tarte wines.
Fortunately for us all this little beauty brings Cabernet Franc right up to the front and shouts its name loud and clear. Deep ruby in colour with a fully ripe nose of black stone fruits, smoky hints and ever-so-slightly vegetal notes. The palate is a joy, starting savoury with typical leafy (blackcurrant?) flavours and gentle grip then exploding into rich velvety cassis and black cherry with delicious roasted vegetables and a persistent finish.
*Please note this was previously labeled at 'Broquel' Cabernet Franc.
