Winemaker Matt Gant (ex head winemaker at St Hallett) has a keen interest in Italian grape varieties having spent time working in Piedmont. With his various contacts, he's discovered small parcels of vines such as Nebbiolo, Montepulciano, Arneis and Barbera in the Adelaide Hills and is turning them into cracking wines.
This wine has a very fragrant nose of red fruits with strawberry and cherry to the fore. The palate explodes into life with layers of ripe wild strawberry and red cherry as well as soft spice and mocha notes. It has great balance and good acidity, and is really very approachable now with the Barbera adding softness. It's really persistent and a very moreish take on these Italian varieties. 65% Nebbiolo, 35% Barbera.
