Deep in the Aconcagua Valley, for over 20 years, Mauro Von Siebenthal has been been handmaking wines within the very individual terroir of Panquehue. Located half way between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean the area is perfect for making organic wines due the semi-desert conditions - ideal for grapes, not so much for disease.
Parcela #7 is a Bordeaux in all but geography. 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Petit Verdot, 16% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, ages in 225 litre barriques, hand-picked fruit and bottled unfiltered. If only Bordeaux could make wines like this at under £20, there would be a queue across France! Inky black in colour with a hugely complex nose of stewed black fruits, cured meats, earthy herbaceous notes and sweet liquorice. The palate mirrors the myriad of flavours on the nose, starting with red fruits then becoming dark and intense, the ripe tannins making sure you know they are there and reminding you of the age-worthiness of this wine.
SC Rating - Outstanding (Dan)
