Domaine Chataignier Durand, owned by Jean Marc Monnet is a 10 hectare estate practicing sustainable farming methods spanning the two appellations of Chiroubles & Julienas in the higher hills of Beaujolais. The estate has been kitted out with ultra-modern winemaking facilities ensuring wines of great purity.

The Julienas Tradition is a superb example of how enjoyable well made Gamay can be, the nose is classically bright red fruited with added notes of dried herbs, especially thyme, along with a dusty cocoa note. The palate has wonderfully supple tannins that really give the fruit and good twang. There's loads of black cherry and ripe raspberry to keep you interested and a great length of flavour.

SC Rating - Outstanding (Dan)
