Unusually for a Touraine producer, Cedric Allion (son of Guy) makes around 40% red wine - far more than almost any of his neighbours but he admits he has a passion for making good reds, so why not?! This is a lovely example of Loire Pinot, really supple and soft with good fruit depth and rounded tannins. The wine sees 15% new oak in it's barrel aging which gives it good structure but still letting the strawberry & raspberry fruits come to the fore. There's a hint of richer, darker berry fruits there too with a dash of white pepper in the mix. This is a great drinker and is a good buy if you're looking for a red Sancerrre or even a Bourgogne Rouge without shelling out a small fortune.
