If there's one New World producer we simply love working with it's Crystallum, and this relationship was further bolstered by a brilliant dinner hosted by the larger than life Peter-Allen Finlayson last year, a top chap if you ever have a chance to meet him. Over the 8 vintages Crystallum have been operating the wines have gone from brilliant to amazing to fabulous..... (you get the idea).
The Bona Fide Pinot Noir is the latest release and it is a wine true to the heart of Crystallum - Burgundian Pinot Noir for cellaring. Fruit is sourced exclusively from the Lotter family in Hemel en Aarde. A darker fruited beast than the Cuvee Cinema, here we have taught tannins and grippy acidity alongside lush, deep, dark fruit. Although there is an opulence and richness, at the moment it is currently savoury and spicy. A few years' bottle age will bring this all together showing the complexity and thrill of this great variety.
