Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc
Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc
£23.50
Tasting Notes
Aromatic, with honeydew melon, orange blossom and herbs; juicy lemon and cassis on a textured palate, with hints of pastis and wildflowers.
Such a stunning example of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
Producer Profile
Kevin Judd, one of Marlborough’s pioneering winemakers, founded Greywacke in 2009. The name comes from the rounded greywacke river stones found in the soils of his first vineyard in Rapaura.
Viticulture
Fruit from the Southern Valleys and the central Wairau Plains (Woodbourne, Renwick and Rapaura), on a mix of stony young alluvial soils and older, denser clay-loams.
Winemaking
Picked mainly in the cool of the night, lightly pressed and fermented mostly in stainless steel, then kept on its lees to build texture before blending.
Goes well with
Goat’s cheese, oysters, asparagus risotto or Thai green curry.
Cellaring
Enjoy over the next two to three years.
