These wonderful Champagnes are made by an old family of owner-growers who have been based in the village of Vincelles, in the heart of Pinot Meunier country in the Marne Valley, for some eight generations. Presided over by Simon Blin, the grandson of Henri Blin who founded the house in 1947, the Blin family collectively own 123 hectares of vineyards. With complete control over growing, they are using sustainable methods, and steadily increasing their organic certification. The house style is increasingly focused on Pinot Meunier, which does particularly well on the clay marle soils around Vincelles, with some Chardonnay grown on lime stone.
The Brut is a delightful, golden wine with very fine bubbles, blended from mostly Pinot Meunier with a balance of Chardonnay. Lovely ripe, beguiling nose of blossom and apple with a citrus freshness and nuances of freshly baked bread. A balanced mouth whose supple creamy texture is prolonged by a fresh acidity that brings out the sliced apple and conference pear, with notes of toasty brioche. Ripe, accessible, and very well made, this makes a perfect aperitif.
