The vines for this very rare PX are an average age of 30 years old and come from a plot where PX has been produced since 1944. It's unctuously sweet (186 g/l residual sugar) as expected, but not as treacly as Spanish PX - more in the middle of Spanish PX and a Rutherglen Muscat. But there's loads going on - pecan pie, Christmas cake, candied fruits, creme brulee, figs, dried apricots and maple syrup all rolled into one. As with all good sweet wines, the vibrant acidity stops the wine from being cloying and the length of finish is extraordinary. A real stunner.
