As a wine producing region, Alsace has to be one of the worlds most ignored. Whether it's the Germanic style bottles or difficult to pronounce grapes and producers that put people off, I don't know. What I do know is if this wine came from Burgundy it would be £20 plus. The colour is a really rich deep gold with a fantastic spicy, ripe nose. The palate is slightly off-dry with honeyed, ripe tropical fruit flavours and some subtle spice notes. With its rich creamy long finish this is the perfect foil to any light to medium spiced Thai dish. Be adventurous and try something different.
