Despite this wine being from Portugal, Abanico is the Spanish word for fan, as you will see it is pictured on the label. It refers to a Spanish lady who ran the estate back in the 1980’s. The wine is aged in a combination of old and new oak barrels. It is concentrated with fine tannins and notes of cassis and cherry aromas. It is a full bodied red with a savoury finish and a hint of vanilla spice.
