Ken Forrester is widely cited as the King of Chenin, not only in South Africa, but worldwide. Making wines which drink fabulously in their youth that will also age gracefully for many years. I have drunk his wines for the mid-nineties and they show no signs of tiredness or lack of structure.
The FMC is Ken's showpiece, a realisation of the fruit from low yeilding bush vines planted over 30 years ago, fermented using natural yeasts and ages on it's lees for 12 months in new French oak. The wine shows layers of ripe pear, apricot and honeyed floral notes wrapped in vanilla scented, velvety deliciousness. As mentioned this wine is bright and fresh yet deeply flavoured now, but will continue to develop in complexity over the next 15-20 years.
