This October, we're heading to Mendoza for a very special evening celebrating one of Argentina's historic family wineries – Bodegas López. Argentina may be famous for Malbec, but there is far more to discover – and few producers tell the story of traditional Argentinian wine quite like Bodegas López.
Founded in 1898, Bodegas López has remained in the hands of the founding family for more than 120 years and four generations. While many Argentinian wine producers have embraced a more international style of winemaking, López has retained a distinctly traditional identity – The López Style – including long ageing in large French-oak casks.
The Lopez approach to winemaking has led to a great deal of international acclaim, including from the much lauded wine critic, Tim Atkin MW. Highlighting their top wines, Tim has described Bodegas Lopez as being the ‘Vina Tondonia’ of Argentina – high praise indeed given that Vina Tondonia is often considered one of Rioja’s best producers. In addition to the praise for their top wines, for the past two years, Bodegas Lopez Malbec 2024 and 2025 have been awarded the much converted ‘best value’ Malbec from Argentina – underlining the overall quality of this fantastic estate.

Whilst Argentina has understandably become synonymous with Malbec, our evening provides an ideal opportunity to discover the breadth and depth of styles that this fascinating country has to offer. So please join us as we explore the history of the López family, their traditional approach to winemaking and taste how this translates into memorable wines.
