Italy is home to a large number of grape varieties many of which are indigenous to the country and rarely grown elsewhere.
Italy can be split into three key growing areas - The North (Pinot Grigio, Soave, Valpolicella & Barolo); Central Italy (Chianti, Frascati & Montepulciano) and Southern Italy (Greco, Primitivo & Salice Salentino).
Local grape varieties to look out for include Garganega, Corvina, Nebbiolo, Cortese, Barbera, Dolcetto, Sangiovese & Primitivo.
