Mataro 2021 Barossa Valley Meta Schwarz Wine Co.

Winemaker Jason Schwarz adopts a hands off approach to his winery and has developed relationships with some of Barossa's finest winemakers over the years, allowing him to access some of the region's premium old vine fruit.

Jason’s minimal intervention winemaking style enables him to create small batch wines that are not mainstream – they are New Age expressions of Barossa classics, designed to allow the fruit to speak for itself and tell a story through the glass.

The fruit for Meta Mataro was sourced from vineyards in Moppa, Vine Vale and Bethany (all 10 - 25 years old vines).

Deep garnet in the glass with a vibrant note of blackberries against smoked & cured charcuterie meats and a pinch of baking spices.

A fruity yet, savoury interplay in the mouth, balancing blackberry jam, blueberries and plum against olive tapenade, more charcuterie and a slight salty tang.

Plenty of concentration of flavour but without thickness or excessive weight, finishing with fine and fresh tannins.
