E.A.R.L Vignobles Leydet – There is a clear, modern approach to winemaking and in 2012, the estate began the conversion to certified organic viticulture, receiving the certification for the 2015 vintage. In the winery, fermentations happen naturally in tank and the wines are aged on the lees in oak barrels with no racking, a strict minimum of sulphur and no fining or filtration.
A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Harvested by hand and fermented in a both concrete and stainless-steel tanks and then matured in a combination of vats (3%), new French barrels (57%) and 2nd/3rd fill (40%).
A lovely wine on the nose, very fresh with floral aromas in abundance. Damson, cherry and blueberry fruit, followed by notes of milk chocolate. On the palate it is once again beautifully fresh with a weighty mid palate, smooth and very easy drinking. A lovely style, that is ready to drink now.
