Kirsten and Richard bought the Matawhero winery from it’s founder and pioneer winemaker Denis Irwin in 2008.
The Estate produces 3 levels of wine: The Single Vineyard range – a selection of the very best vineyard sites in Gisborne from three distinct sub regions; Riverpoint, Hexton Hills and Patutahi.
The wines are fruit driven and approachable and they display the palate weight and texture that Gisbourne is renowned for.
The Church House collection are unique parcels of wine showcasing alternative varieties that are grown in the region.
Another beautiful red vintage from Gisborne with wild berry, savoury and earthy aromas, this is a full bodied wine packed with fruity notes, earthy undertones and soft tannins.
