Founded in 1886, Bodegas Gomez Cruzado, have been making wine in Haro in Rioja, producing a wide range of reds and whites from this renowned DO which have proven hugely popular with critics the world over including Robert Parker and most recently, Tim Atkin MW who awarded this 2016 vintage a score of 94/100 as did the Wine Advocate.
Fullsome praise indeed for this Rioja which is a complex blend of 80% Tempranillo, 5% Garnacha Tinta, 5% Graciano, 5% Mazuela and 5% Viura.
Gómez Cruzado Honorable 2016 is an intense, structured and fresh wine.
It exhibits a great balance between the varietal aromas, ripe black fruit and flowery notes, with the notes of the oak ageing.
When the wine opens up, extremely elegant, roasted aromas reveal themselves.
