Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Ribbon Vale " Elsa " Moss Wood

Moss Wood are true pioneers of the Australian wine industry, the founding estate of the Margaret River wine region and their wines are universally revered and acclaimed.

This is the third vintage of their Elsa wine and they have enhanced the style of the wine.

In the search for more complexity of aroma and flavour, they pick the Sauvignon Blanc grapes riper and the original “Elsa” in 2019 contained 12.7% alcohol but in 2020 they increased the ABV to 13.9% and felt that vintage had more depth and Moss Wood have continued this theme in 2021 with an ABV of 13.5%.

It has a light to medium straw colour with green tints & on the nose, it is perfumed with lifted, floral scents of lychees, limes, frangipani and lavender combined with guava lemon curd, caramel and a background of toasty oak notes.

On the palate, fresh and crisp with medium to full body and lifted acidity.

There are generous lime, lychee, honey dew melon, caramel and preserved lemon flavours filling the mid palate, making the wine relatively rounded and generous.

There is even a touch of oak and tannin on the finish.
