Chardonnay 2021 Burgenland Ungerberg Georg Preisinger

Viticulture has been the focus of the Preisinger family for five generations.

What began in 1851 as mixed farming with animal husbandry has developed over generations into today’s winery.

The rocket is a carefully chosen symbol for their wines.

It stands for the journey through time that becomes possible through the enjoyment of strong charactered wines: the immersion into a past year, the taste structure of the past handed down through time to the present.

But also, the overcoming of distances – which good wine masters so well!

Chardonnay grows on the Ungerberg, one of the warmest locations in the country.

A light, sandy, loamy soil gives the grapes a high level of ripeness, beautiful body and ripe fruit every year.

Since the 2017 vintage, the Chardonnay Ungerberg has been spontaneously fermented with the skins on the mash, stored for 3 weeks and then aged in used 500 litre barrels for 3 years.

This makes it a mature, creamy, full bodied and high quality, single vineyard wine.

A bright yellow colour with delicate white fruit nuances and a deft mineral touch.

Beautiful complexity with a pleasantly woven touch of wood, a creamy texture & a hint of blossom honey in the finish.

A very serious alternative to expensive White Burgundy at a fraction of the price.
