Rioja Blanco 2014 D.O Rioja Montes Obarnes Bodegas Gómez Cruzado

Founded in 1886, Bodegas Gomez Cruzado, have been making wine in Haro in Rioja, producing a wide range of reds and whites from this renowned D.O.

This White Rioja is 25% Tempranillo Blanco from the surrounding area of Haro; 65% Viura; 5% Malvasía and the remaining 5% consisting of a blend of Garnacha Blanca and Calagraño from their vineyard Las Laderas de Ollauri.

The grapes are hand picked and hand sorted in the winery then fermented and aged on fine lees in new French oak barrel(80% of the wine) and aged on fine lees in a concrete tank (20% of the wine).

Beloved of critics such as Tim Atkin MW, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and James Suckling, this pale yellow, hued wine has elements of white stone fruits, dried white flowers, hints of hazel nuts and crushed limestone emerge.

The palate is fresh, bright and loaded with ripe fruit and soft acidity.
